My VSCode Setup

Reading time: 1 min

Since there are posts like this going around on blogs like The Zen of Programming and DEV Community 👩‍💻👨‍💻 so I feel like giving my 🔥 take.

VSCode: Themes

My current theme is Gloom because it’s pretty and has the best balance of contrast and coolness.

I also have the standard Monokai, Cobalt2, nightowl, and level-up-vscode-theme which is my second favorite.

Extensions

I have a lot of extensions. Let’s just get that out of the way. I know I should delete a lot of them and I have. Just need to go a little further.1:

Yep. 115 extensions.

Some of my favorite extensions:

Random Extensions

React/Redux

CSS/SASS

JavaScript

Git/GitHub

Testing/Linting

Final Thoughts

VSCode has come a long way from when I first tried it in 2015. I use it exclusively now, and am extremely happy with it and happy with my overall setup2.

  1. I just installed 6 more while writing this.

  2. Though I could get rid of some of these extensions.

No Ads. No Sponsored Content. Ever.

I've decided that I no longer want to have sponsored posts on this blog. I also, though as tempting as it may sound, don't want ads; even if I got big enough for Carbon ads I don't want them. I want to post free, engaging content for beginning/junior devs. This means that I won't have Setapp posts or affiliates on this blog, though I will keep them on the Uses page. If you enjoy the content, buy me a coffee. Just click the button below.
